Peggy Lin started this petition to United Nations and

Dear Secretary-General Guterres,

I would like to express my serious concern of hate speech occurred in Hong Kong.  The Hong Kong protesters were named “Roaches” by the Hong Kong Police, the Blue-Ribbon Group and even the Hong Kong Film Director Clifton Ko.  He particularly designed a poster posted on Facebook dated September 4, 2019 “Roach vs Police” and dressed the giant roach like the Hong Kong protesters.  (Please find attached.)  This is totally unacceptable for a public figure like Director Ko to spread out hate speech in public media.  It’s inappropriate insult!  He has indeed committed an illegal act of hate speech and discrimination.

Not only the hate speech can build up hatreds among the opposed groups but also can lead to the consequences of killing, beating and massacre of the Hong Kong protesters and residents, just like the Nazis referred to Jews as rats during Holocaust.  Therefore, I urged the United Nations to take immediate action to investigate, prohibit and punish the related parties who committed in this hate speech behavior.

Your attention to this matter means a lot to the Hong Kongers.  We believed everyone should be treated equally and with dignity no matter what their circumstances; which means nobody should be tortured or treated in an inhuman or degrading way.

Thank you!
