Our usage of plastic is affecting our ocean and is harmful for the millions of sea lives especially the marine animals. They are dying and becoming sick in their habitat due to our irresponsible actions.

Sea animals often eat microplastics because of their small size. And plastic contains toxic chemicals, which can increase the chance of disease and affect reproduction. After ingesting microplastics, the marine animals may suffer for months or years before they die.

We didn't know that the plastics we use just go to our oceans. And to think that in all these years that even if we recycle, minor differences can affect our environment. In 2014, there was an estimated 15 to 51 trillion microplastic particles floating in the world’s oceans, weighing between 93,000 and 236,000 tonnes. Compared to what we see in our news now, different kinds of plastic materials are being ingested by the marine animals and die due to their respiratory and digestive systems being clogged with plastic.

Would you believe that we can make a difference just by stopping the use of plastic materials? Like for example buying bottle containers instead of plastic water bottles, bringing your own utensils instead of using disposable ones, using metal straws in drinking beverages and using eco bags in shopping are the major changes we can do to help our environment and marine life. Let’s save the Earth! Let's save our ocean!
