Condemn the UN Secretary General’s action of meeting with the Al Bashir who is indicted by the International criminal court for atrocities and genocide.
The UN Secretary General Mr. António Guterres met and shook hands with the Sudanese president Omer Al Bashir, neglecting the fact that Al Bashir is indicted by the ICC in accordance to a UN Security Council Resolution 1593 (2005). The ICC wants the Sudanese president to be persecuted for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.
Since the formal accusation of the Sudanese president, the people of Darfur were awaiting the awake of the consciousness of the international community, and to summon Al Bashir to the criminal court.
In the name of the people of Sudan and particularly the people of Darfur who have been subjected to killing, torture and genocide by the hands of President Omer Bashir, we condemn the action of the UN Secretary General who violated a UNSC decisions and showed contempt to the International Criminal Court. By doing so, the UN SG has explicitly recognized as well as legalized the power of Al Bashir, the head of the brutal Islamist Military Coup and his actions and killing of Sudanese people, which is continuing until this moment.
We call upon the international community and the UN to stand to its values and covenants, in bringing to justice the indicted president rather than shaking hands with him and to condemn the action of Mr. António Guterres.
We call upon the international community to equally condemn Al Bashir’s current violations of the constitutional rights of people of Sudan, by unlawfully suppressing peaceful demonstrations and executing extra judicial detention of political opponents, and put pressure on the current regime to release all the political detainees
