Indigenous Peoples are not "issues" - we are Peoples. Indigenous Peoples have been working for the right to be called "Peoples" since well before the adoption of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) in 2007. Its time to change the name of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues to the UN Permanent Forum about Indigenous Peoples to be respectful to Indigenous Peoples and consistent with UNDRIP and the UN's Minimum Standard adopted by the United Nations General Assembly.

Letter to
UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues United Nations
UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs Mr. Wu Hongbo
I support the work of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues but STRONGLY feel the name needs to be changed to the "United Nations Permanent Forum about Indigenous Peoples."

Indigenous Peoples are not "issues" - we are Peoples. Indigenous Peoples have been working for the right to be called "Peoples" before and since the adoption of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) in 2007.

Thank you for your continued work to secure the rights of Indigenous Peoples.
