Ban Plastic bags or limit its use
For a better environment today and tomorrow.
Use of Plastic bags are increasing each day. People find it cheap and convenient. But they do not think that how it has been affecting our environment. The continuous use of plastic bags can make environment even more polluted and hard to live for future generations.Million tons of plastic bags are building up as a waste in our environment which could potentially harm our soil, water, living organism and air.
They are non-degradable and produce lots of harmful chemicals upon their presence and while manufacturing too. Polystyrene, Polyvinyl Chloride, Poly Carbonate,Urea formaldehyde are some of the major chemical found in plastic These chemicals can be toxic to plants, animals and humans. They are also carcinogenic and can results in cancers, many diseases, birth defects, immune system suppression, developmental problems in children.
So wee need to think before we use plastics bag again. Convenience of using plastic bags can not be compromised with those hazardous effects for us and for our future generations.
Public can take part from their side too. We can use paper or other non-plastic bags for day to day use. All the preexisting plastics can be donated for reuse and recycling for some other purpose. Here are few things we can do to save our environment.
Buy food in glass or metal containers
Avoid heating food in plastic containers, or storing fatty foods in plastic containers or plastic wrap
Do not give young children plastic teethers or toys
Use natural fiber clothing, bedding and furniture
Avoid all PVC and Styrene products.
Lets try to avoid use of plastics as much as we can. It might not be possible for compete ban of plastics an all sectors but if we can at least stop using plastics in our normal day to day life we can decrease the pollutants by significant portion.
