Safe Streets for Rochester

18th Ave NW is ready to undergo a road redesign. The plans look great save for the fact that bicycles in an unprotected bike lane will be riding along side car and trucks traveling at 45-50mph. This makes drivers incredibly nervous and puts cyclists in danger especially during winter months when roads narrow due to snow removal. Commuter cyclists use 18th Ave to come into downtown daily. Drivers don't want to share the road, neither to those riding bikes. Rochester is redesigning a wide road with no on-street parking, there are several other viable options available that don't reduce car speeds and keep us all safe. Tell Public Works and your elected officials that you expect a better road and safety for all.
