United Airlines: Stop showing violent movies on flights with shared screens.

Extremely violent images are being shown to children on United Airlines flights with shared movie screens. Neither parents nor children consent to this exposure to deeply troubling images of murder, torture, and violence. On a recent United flight, passengers were forced to witness a man methodically hunting down and shooting his co-workers at close range in their confined workspace in a PG-13 film. At a time when our society is struggling to address these sorts of scenarios in real-life, we should not force such images on children over their parents' objections. United Airlines has stated that they are using "acceptable industry standards for an audience which may include young children (similar to television viewing)." The company is overlooking the fact that television viewing is voluntarily and the images can be turned off. United Airlines also stated, "Our goal is to offer feature films...that will please the greatest number of guests." Let us tell United Airlines that forcing children to view disturbing, violent images is not pleasing to its customers.
