Unisa Must Set Dates for Graduands Affected by NEHAWU Protests to Finally Graduate
Unisa graduands scheduled to graduate from the 15th of March to the 28th of the same month were unable to graduate because NEHAWU protesters disrupted a ceremony on the 15th. The ceremonies had to be postponed while Unisa and NEHAWU were negotiating on solutions.
They finally reached an agreement and graduation ceremonies have been resumed but no dates have been set yet for the tardy graduation ceremonies of the ones affected. We feel ignored as an alumni.
I implore to the university's Graduations Division and Executive Management to set new dates and grant us the opportunity to attend on-site graduations as we previously agreed to. Further delay means we still do not have our graduation certificates which we require for our future endeavours.
South Africa being a melting pot, some students come from neighbouring countries . Parents and family who had come to attend the events have found themselves trapped in the country not knowing whether to go back home or keep waiting for dates that are still unknown.
I pray you timeously solve the issue at hand.
