Downsville Community Charter School

Downsville Community Charter School
On October 9, 2021 Union Parish has an election scheduled to renew a property tax that supports the operations of schools within Union Parish; including both charter schools. Currently, Downsville Community Charter School has offered a proposal to the Union Parish School Board to purchase the Downsville School facility for approximately $3.2 million dollars.
This sale will have two positive outcomes for the citizens and students of Union Parish. The first will be that the money that DCCS provides for the purchase of the school will be applied to the District's outstanding debt and will reduce the property tax related to the debt for building and upgrading new schools. This will benefit ALL property owners in Union Parish. The second benefit will be that DCCS can then build a new gym, cafeteria, and upgrade other facilities for its students.
This petition asks that all who support this sale to reduce taxes and benefit the students of the Downsville community, please sign the petition under the following commitment.
I support the sale of the Downsville School facility to DCCS. I commit to vote to renew the maintenance and operations tax, only if UPSB sells the school to DCCS.
