Idle Trains
Idle Trains
Union Pacific has added a train switch off in the residential area of Blue Earth, MN leaving trains to idle for at least 60 hours Friday night to Monday morning EVERY weekend and from 9pm-9am on week nights 9 months per year.
The low frequency noise from the constant running trains makes sleep impossible for the homes surrounding, lowers property values, and pollutes the air with emissions.
Please help us stand for change, what we are asking is not unreasonable. Several ideas have been given and dismissed. A sound barrier, funds to soundproof homes, moving the train office, moving hours to ensure they get to a trainyard where they should be, having the train park by the empty lot instead of next to the houses, etc.
I have personally reached out to the Vice President Printz Bolin, the manager of public relations Kelli O'Brien, and the superintendent Joshua Shaffer to no avail. Blue Earth is not a trainyard and we won't stop until it isn't treated as such.
