A CALL TO ACTION SEIU MEMBERS

Please if you are unable to attend the meeting due to work or bucause life happens. Please sign this petition to show support for your union members. Please remember we're all in this together and this affects all of us.

In July 2018 the union and the employer signed and agreement allowing staff to hold multiple point positions not equaling a 1.0 but say you could be a .5 somewhere and a .2 somewhere else .. that’s very beneficial to many people not in a position to sit by their phone waiting for call ins and more guaranteed hours than your 1 causal shift a month .. it also prevented certain depts from punishing you by holding back shifts based on your availability and for those requiring more hours still where possible to be able to take casual call in and scheduled shifts allowing them to pick up to full time hours ...
The employer has asked to change or remove this program .... and while it has not been easy to get the details basically has been communication between the union and then employer as far back as Feb on this issue and it is only now that we are getting the option to weigh in ... I am stirring a hornets nest and lighting fires because there have been postings and hires that have not been honoured while they sort this out without member input .. no voice at all ... jobs we need especially right now while you can’t work elsewhere .. this has been going on since Feb and it is only coming to light now and we are just now getting a chance to have our day so there is a meeting Dec 15
Please attend please share this post with all of your seiu members talk to each other and bring your concerns and suggestions and experiences with you ... I encourage you all to attend as this barely happened and may be our only chance to have some input in the decisions that affect us
Here is what you need to know .. the employer wants this so be a casual position holding opportunity, the union to whom we pay our dues did not tell us this was happening ... the depts have been allowed to hold back positions until this was pushed through ... who is accountable to us essential workers and Why can’t we have scheduled shifts and guaranteed hours ...let’s pose these questions and others at the virtual union meeting on Dec 15 at 5:30pm Eastern Time
this is a zoom meeting
