ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಕೋರ್ಸ್‌ಗಳ ಪ್ರವೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಆಯಾ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳು ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು. ಆದರೆ,ಸುಪ್ರೀಂ ಕೋರ್ಟ್‌ ತೀರ್ಪಿನ ಅನ್ವಯ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಪ್ರೌಢ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಮಂಡಳಿ (ಸಿಬಿಎಸ್‌ಇ) ಈ ವರ್ಷ ಎರಡುಹಂತಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಎನ್‌ಇಇಟಿ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ನಡೆಸಿತ್ತು.  2017– 18ನೇ ಸಾಲಿಗೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳು ಅಥವಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳುಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ನಡೆಸುವಂತಿಲ್ಲ. ಎನ್‌ಇಇಟಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಕಡ್ಡಾಯ ಎಂದು ಸೂಚಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.

2017-18ನೇ ಸಾಲಿಗೆ ಎನ್‌ಇಇಟಿ ಕಡ್ಡಾಯ ಎಂಬುದು ಖಚಿತವಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆ ಬಹುತೇಕ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳು ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾವನೆಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ನಡೆಸುವಂತೆ ಕೋರಿದ್ದವು. ಆದರೆ, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾವನೆಕಳುಹಿಸದೆ ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯ ವಹಿಸಿತು. ಇದರಿಂದಾಗಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಿನ್ನಡೆಯಾಗಿದೆ.

ಡಿ.21ರಂದು ಆದೇಶ ಹೊರಡಿಸಿರುವ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಮುಂದಿನ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಎನ್‌ಇಇಟಿಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್, ಹಿಂದಿ, ಅಸ್ಸಾಮಿ, ಬೆಂಗಾಲಿ, ಗುಜರಾತಿ, ಮರಾಠಿ, ತಮಿಳು, ತೆಲುಗು ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿನಡೆಸಲಾಗುವುದು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದೆ.

ಈ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯಿಸಿರುವ ಆಮ್ ಆದ್ಮಿ ಪಾರ್ಟಿ-ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸಂಚಾಲಕರಾದ ಪೃಥ್ವಿ ರೆಡ್ಡಿ, ಎನ್‌ಇಇಟಿ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆಯಲು ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಅವಕಾಶ ಒದಗಿಸದಿರುವುದುವಿಷಾದನೀಯ, ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಸಮಾನ ಅವಕಾಶ ದೊರೆಯಬೇಕಾದರೆ ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಬರೆಯಲು ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಅವಕಾಶ ನೀಡಬೇಕು ಎಂದೂ ಅವರು ಆಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

Since the Supreme Court’s direction for a single entrance test across India passed, the Union government amended laws to impose NEET across the country. It promised that state quotas would not be disturbed. This is a welcome move.

Students appearing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2017, to get admissions to medical colleges can write the exam in nine languages – English, Tamil, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu.

Karnataka is home to 53 medical colleges (The Highest No. of Colleges in a state across the Country), of which 18 are government colleges. The state has 7,355 MBBS seats and 3,646 postgraduate medical seats. Three more colleges with 150 seats each were added this year at Chamrajanagar, Kodagu and Karwar. 

Another interesting fact remains that 53 per cent of students in Karnataka writing their class 10 exams in Kannada medium which means more than half of the state’s students are deprived of their basic right and opportunity to perform better in the NEET Exams.

When All State Govt's made the application to Central Govt to consider conducting entrance exam in their regional Language and exams are approved to be conducted in 9 Regional languages. Neither State Govt of Karnataka is interested to do justice to the Students of Karnataka nor the Central Government.

AAP Karnataka State Convener Prithvi Reddy, expressed his sadness and stressed its important to allow NEET exams to be conducted in Kannada to give equal opportunity to students studying in Kannada Medium and urged the Central Govt to take cognisance of the situation and allow Students of Karnataka to take NEET Exams in Kannada.
