Unify against uniform

Ashington Academy have decided to implement a school uniform for sixth form students. As a sixth form student myself, I feel this is belittling and not allowing us to have the freedom, that we were promised, before we made the decision to carry on education at Ashington Academy. To exacerbate this issue, the school made no attempt to communicate with either students or parents. The academy, once a high-school, is increasingly becoming a dictatorship and is preventing us from making responsible choices that have an impact on our future lives. The uniform is not only gender-biased, but restricts the choices to wear clothes that make us feel comfortable, confident and distinct. Their reasoning is to 'aspire us to become young professionals' however in a modern world where uniforms are less important, it is in my strong belief that quality education, job prospects and a strong personality can help drive one to success.
