Corinna West started this petition to jparker@wycokck.org and

Corinna West at Urban Wildfinds Farm and Forage has asked the city to have 12 ducks. The KCK Unified Government Board of Comissioners has said she can only have 8 ducks. Their reduction was based on a desire for compromise plus a conservation plan that said that the farm did not have any wetlands plants present. The farm has responded by saying that the entire farm is pretty much covered with wetlands plants. The city has not responded to the farm's 8 written attempts for truce or negotiation to settle the dispute. Please support 12 ducks instead of 8 at Urban Wildfinds Farm and Forage.

Also, please support a more fair zoning process for small business. 1 in 8 homes in Wyandotte county have a small business in them according to SCORE. These businesses need a shorter, more friendly path to legal registration so that they can grow and we can free up government staff. If the county spent 5 hours helping businesses with a business navigator or an ombudsman, it would be more efficient than using a confrontation-based approach that costs 200 hours of staff time. Please support the growth of home based businesses with a smoother business development process.

There are 18,700 home-based businesses in a county the size of Wyandotte County according to SCORE. All of them are in the same position as Corinna's farm, technically needing a special use permit for home occupancy. If all of them tried to complete the special use permit process as required by Wyandotte county law, it would overwhelm the system. It should not require 200 hours of city staff time in order to register a business. Please end the disparate enforcment by singling out one business at a time. Please instead of create a fair law that can help all 18, 700 businesses to get legalized and get access to capital and growth.
