Why this petition matters

Started by Rakshita S

The reasons for why we travel to Antarctica are the same reasons that the Antarctic is depleting.

Antarctica is a “frozen desert”, due to its very minimal amount of precipitation. The precipitation never melts here though, instead builds up to form sheets of ice and glaciers. Antarctica is home to many whales, polar bears, seals, penguins and certain species of fish. These animals have adapted to the cold environment and can survive in the extreme conditions, unlike humans.

Over the years, the Antarctic has been suffering from the impacts of human actions. From marine pollution to global warming that directly affects both the landscaping and fauna. Animals are in peril, from the loss of glaciers to Ocean Acidification. There have been a few treaties and international agreements to help control the effects on Antarctica, however, it is projected to be detrimental for the animals in the area, by the end of this century.

You can help us create an impact and save the natural environment and wildlife of Antarctica. Join Project Extrication and help us Extricate the Antarctic.
