There are undocumented immigrants all throughout the US, and each have gone through their own experiences. None of these people should ever go through acts of oppression and injustice, yet they have. They are judged solely because they are from a foreign country. They are considered "aliens" by the US government. Most, if not all, are considered 'dangerous' to the country and are deported from the place they called home. I know many families who have had their houses raided by ICE and other immigration officers and have had family killed or taken away from them. Answer this: What is the difference between a US citizen and an undocumented immigrant? The answer is clear: they're from 2 different places, and one has "the right" to live in the US. Does that mean that one is a completely different person? Absolutely not. We are all human, we all deserve to be treated with open arms, because that's what anyone would want. Everyday, undocumented immigrants suffer, and a lot make a living check-by-check. All because they are looking for a better life either for themselves, or for their children. 18 years ago, my parents came to the US in search of a better life, and with the hopes of their future child to have one as well. Two year later, they were undocumented and had a baby girl. Today, they are still undocumented, and they raise a 15 year old, me. I am that 15 year old. I have seen my father suffer through job-searching, and having health problems, and being unemployed for 3+ years. I watch my mother be the breadwinner of the family, working every single day, cleaning houses, so that she can pay the bills. Not many people have any perspective on what it's truly like to live in a country that isn't yours. They suffer here, yet they still try their best to make a living for their or their kids' futures. What is the true reason for undocumented immigrants being denied of their rights? The excuse of them all being "criminals" is untrue and it simply isn't enough. There are more threats in the US that aren't immigrants, so why not solve those instead, instead of deporting innocent lives and families back to their country, where it may not even be safe. We need rights, and we should've already had them a long time ago.
