Under attack at NYU, Mark Crispin Miller needs your support for academic freedom

Mark Crispin Miller’s introduction to Edward Bernays’ classic “Propaganda” remains close to my desk, and I consult it often and refer others to it as a quintessential synopsis of this crucial topic. Mark is an authority on propaganda and on the origin of the notion of “conspiracy theory” and its use to conceal the crimes of the powerful. The fact that Mark has been attacked before and is still speaking sense to power is a testament to his courage. NYU censoring him in this blatant manner is an ominous sign for our city, our country, and democracy itself. I support the academic freedom of Mark and every teacher at every level to foster critical thinking in their students. It’s crucial in normal times, and even more so in the struggle we find ourselves.
