We work hard all our lives just so that our future is secured. We save up penny by penny, take risks and invest, and insure ourselves and our families against high premium rates just so that we are able to safeguard our future. But unfortunately many a times upon a person’s demise, their hard earned money remains unclaimed. The family either remains unaware or it becomes a nightmare for them to claim it back. Please help and sign this petition so that these amounts reach the person for whom it has been saved.

As per media reports, more than Rs 82,000 crore of investors’ wealth remains unclaimed in investments. Deposits are lying unclaimed in inactive bank accounts, unclaimed maturity proceedings of insurance policies in insurance companies, unclaimed money in mutual funds, and large amounts of money stuck in inactive provident fund accounts.

It should be the institution’s responsibility to ensure that these unclaimed amounts are rightfully handed back to the account holder’s nominee/legal heir. I have started this petition on behalf of all nominees. Sign my petition and request the Finance Ministry to issue an advisory directing all financial institutions to look into this, actively reach out to the nominees, and facilitate the handover of their precious savings.
