UN Security Council: Stopp the violence against peaceful demonstrations in the DRC
Diese Petition hat 44 Unterschriften erreicht
Since December 2016 the current president of the Democratic Republic of Congo Joseph Kabila is ruling without any mandate, as his second term has come to an end. Elections and a peaceful transfer of power are delayed for specious excuses.
Human Rights Watch indicates that during the first peaceful demonstrations on December 31st, 2017 at least 2 people have been brutally killed by police officers. Other institutions indicate at least 20 deaths.
The reaction of the international community regarding this senseless and continuing massacres of peaceful demonstrations has been a disgrace to the values of human rights and democracy.
We demand that the United Nations Security Council firmly condemns the continuing violence against the people of the DRC and sanctions the unlawful regime in place so that. President Kabila continues to violate the Congolese constitution by staying in office and has effective immediately to resign.
