ISIS is trying to wipe out entire cultural and religious communities in Iraq and Syria.
ISIS directs violence against indigenous nations: Assyrian, Chaldean, Syriac and Armenian and other ethnic minorities Yazidis, Druze, Shabaks, Mandeans and Shia Turkmen Muslims. Amnesty International has held ISIS responsible for the ethnic cleansing of ethnic and religious minorities in Iraq and Syria on a “historic scale”.
We are calling for the International Criminal Court to bring the perpetrators of genocide to justice. We are sending a very clear message to those organising and undertaking this slaughter that at some point in the future they will be held accountable by the international community for their actions; they will be caught, tried and punished.
All 127 nations that are signatories to the UN Convention will need to face up to their duty to take the necessary action to ‘prevent and punish’ the perpetrators of these evil acts.
