Fuel/Chemical storage and hay processing plant will contaminate ground water

URGENT for anyone in the Milton-Freewater or surrounding area.
Blue Mountain Hay LLC has plans for a Hay Processing Plant and a chemical/fuel and fertilizer storage facility on the corner of Appleton Rd and Hwy 11. This 18 acre plot is zoned farm land, yet the Umatilla Planning Commission has granted a conditional use permit. We are trying to reverse that. We feel it is too close to our school for a chemical and fertilizer storage place. The reasons we oppose is
1. If there was a spill, it would contaminate the shared water table. This shared water table supplies schools, businesses, and homes in the surrounding area.
2. The dust the hay processing plant will add a lot of dust and allergens in the air for our students, businesses, and local area residents; some elderly.
3. The danger of the intersection of W. Crockett Rd and Hwy 11 will increase with trucks loading and unloading.
#C1293-17 can still be voted down. There is a meeting tomorrow in Pendleton and Tim Werhan from Smiley RV in MF will be there to be sure our voices are heard. I know this is shot notice, but please do take the time to sign this petition to shut this project down. Normally this type of processing is done outside of towns, and that is where this project should be moved.
PLEASE call the Umatilla Planning Commission and speck with Robert Waldher to protest. 541-278-6252. PLEASE also sign this petition. Thank you for caring!
