Nursing school is extremely stressful, and with a pandemic going on the stress is just constantly being added on to.  Many members from the class of 2023 agree that due to the setbacks caused by something that happened out of our control, it is unfair for us to be held to the same standard that we would if classes were in person.  Online school causes us to have less resources, and more stress and anxiety causing our grades to be lower than they would be if classes were in person.  Ultimately by not changing the grade for us to be considered passing to be lower, the College of Nursing is showing that they do not care about accommodating to their students during this tough time.  I am sure most professors would agree that we are all being put at an academic disadvantage by being online, so by changing the grade to be lower you are not changing the quality of nurses we become, but you will be helping us know that the college is empathetic towards the disadvantage we were at.  Holding us to the same standard with in person and online courses is unfair, and shows that despite all the set backs we are experiencing, the UMass Dartmouth college of nursing does not care to accommodate for the mental health of their students.  Overall, us students hope that the faculty has the empathy towards us that we deserve, and recognizes how badly a pandemic can affect students mental health, the quality of learning we receive, the amount of resources we have, and the grades we receive.  Please have the empathy towards us that you try to teach us future nurses to have towards our patients.
