Why this petition matters

Increased COVID stress has been tough on lecturers and students. However, lecturer concerns aren't being addressed and their mental health is suffering because of it. By alleviating work expectations for these lecturers we can allow them to dedicate more time adapting to the new hybrid learning style, helping students more, and making sure they have adequate time for self-care. The current research paper requirements are not reasonable to produce, and quantity is made the focus as opposed to quality. By reiving lecturer stress Surrey can improve the student experience and be a good example of what work-life balance should look like in a good organisation.

As students, it benefits us to support our lecturers because in turn they will have more time for our questions, and will improve their relationships with us if we demonstrate we care.
