Removal of Thomas Jefferson from Mizzou's Campus

As a freshman I visited campus for the first time and saw this statue. It didn’t sit right with me. As a SWL, I neglected to mention the statue specifically because of that uncomfortable feeling. This same statue still stands on our quadrangle and is a symbol of Mizzou’s surface level efforts to promote equity among students. As an alumna, I want to see this statue taken down. Shall this act show solidarity and a new tradition of making our campus a truly safe and equal place for Black students.
