Furlough Eligible Tui Employees!

Furlough Eligible Tui Employees!
Why this petition matters
The big holiday company Tui are refusing a group of its own employees furlough, despite their clear eligibility.
There are roughly 550 employees on a Permanent Part Year contract. This means they are guaranteed work from the beginning of May to the end of October every year. Some employees are kept on to work from November to April, and some are not. Those who are not kept on retain a permanent contract with Tui meaning if they seek other work, their income is taxed at 20% due to it being classified as a ‘second job’.
The Treasury states that all anyone on the payroll on the 30th October is eligible for the extended furlough scheme. Every member of this group was on the payroll until at least the 31st of October, making them eligible in the eyes of the Treasury.
The guidelines also state that furlough is applicable for any type of contract. This is in place to protect people who are on non-conventional contracts, such as a ‘Permanent Part Year’ contract.
Tui continues to refuse furlough to these eligible employees. They have no legal basis for their refusal. For the sake of cutting costs by not having to pay the National Insurance and Pension contributions for more furloughed employees, this company is willing to forsake the incomes of 550 people over the Christmas period and during a national crisis when financial stability is needed most.
