Graduate visa is one of the visas that the government introduced to bring in UK talented graduates to the country. However many UK international students are not able to secure the graduate visa as they completed their studies from outside the UK.  Many of these students were delayed by the University’s. Like one of my friends, her supervisor retired and the co-supervisor died before the viva. They took a-lot time to look for another supervisor that would help to look for the external examiner. Her student visa expired and she had to leave. Another one, had a mental disability. In November 2021, the quality standard team and the disability team proposed that the examiners should set questions for her to answer. The external examiner didn’t respond. So they had to look for another external examiner. Her visa expired in the process. She expected to continue her treatment during the graduate visa and work after that. Her treatment is not accessible in her country. UK students that have completed their studies outside UK and in the last five years should be eligible to apply for the graduate visa.
