UK is at the mercy of unstable dictators and tyrants for some of its energy supplies. For most of the 1980's and 1990's and early 2000's the UK was a net exporter of energy. We should be again.

The UK needs to begin drilling into its huge reserves of oil and gas, start mining coal again, increase the number of nuclear power stations and start fracking for gas on land.

Along with the power generated by nuclear and renewables, this would enable the UK  to be self sufficient in energy and to reduce substantially the cost of gas, electricity, petrol and diesel to the consumer. It would also ensure that the UK would have secure supplies and not be reliant on unstable dictatorships and tyrants abroad for some of our energy supplies.
