Waive the requirement of a deposit at the next GE for candidates that stood in 2017
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
For a candidate to stand in a general election, they must pay a deposit of £500, which is returned if they achieve 5% of the vote.
Needless to say, the parties that aren't bankrolled by big business or trade unions were the ones that lost out due to this: on the order of hundreds of thousands of pounds nationally.
The likelihood is that there will be another snap general election, possibly as soon as October 2017. If this happens, many local parties may be unable to afford the loss of another £500.
The undersigned beseech the returning officers in the next general election to forgive this requirement of any candidates who stood in 2017.
