As the rest of the world has seen cases go down, other countries have watched as the pandemic takes over the United States.  With COVID-19 cases rising, and our country's healthcare workers fighting off the virus every day, opening college's to have face-to-face teaching should not be in consideration at this time.  We (the students), and faculty, should not be forced to take unnecessary risks of exposure to the virus.  Even with students being tested and being required to wear P.P.E. (ie. masks, sanitizer) at all times, the chances of 30,000 students following these guidelines is highly unlikely.  A quarter of those 30,000 students are incoming freshmen, many of whom are more likely to ignore said guidelines.  Speaking as a senior at the University of Kentucky, if I were an incoming freshman, I would want the normal college experience of socializing and being away from my parents for the first time.  While I sympathize with everybody wanting a sense of normalcy, we still have a ways to go before things are normal.  The University of Kentucky could hold all classes virtually, so why aren't they? Sign the petition to stop UK from having face-to-face classes for the Fall 2020 semester.
