What I want to achieve is to improve the services in Wales for Transgender People.

During 2017 Health Secretary Vaughan Gething announced plans in August to open a gender identity clinic in Cardiff but the British Medical Association said "there was no confidence a proper service would be provided".

Which saw the hopes and dreams of many transgender people put out due to an "opinion" yes, I said "opinion" because how would they know unless they try?

The Welsh Government said "it was committed to the new clinic".

Why not give the women and men of Wales a chance?

Because currently, transgender patients in Wales are referred to the Gender Identity Clinic in London, which adds to the cost and time it takes to get access healthcare which some patients can't afford.

Over the last few years, there has been an increase in demand for transgender health services in Wales, and I believe everyone should be able to be themselves, and have access to said treatments.

In my honest opinion Welsh patients of the NHS suffering with Gender Dysphoria are getting treated unfairly, and my proposal is that you name a person in Wales that British Medical Association deems Confident and oversee's the practice.

Vaughan Gething said:

"As part of our commitment to improve health and well-being for all, this year we made additional funding available within the Welsh Government budget to improve gender identity provision in Wales".

I believe that our government was trying to help improve the lives of many by taking such measures,

Dr Charlotte Jones, the current Chair woman of the BMA Cymru Wales GP Committee has also expressed confidence in the Welsh Government's proposal by saying:

"GPC Wales is delighted to see how Welsh Government has taken a proactive approach to listening and addressing the holistic care needs that the transgender community has.

We’re also pleased that this will involve GPs with specialist interest being a pivotal part of the proposed service, and all GPs involved in the patient journey, with clarity on referral pathways being a first for the UK."

If this is made a reality we could see an improvement not just in health needs but an improvement in the lively hoods of those suffering, and to those surrounding them such as family and friends.

So please sign not just for you but for the many of those suffering !
