Almost 1.3 million Indians fought for the British Empire in WW1 and more than 70000 died . In World War 2 , 1.7 million Indian soldiers participated and many died. However, their contribution is largely forgotten by the modern United Kingdom. When one drives past the streets of London can see memorials for animals who fought for the British army but not a single statue or memorial for those brave soldiers from India who sacrificed their lives for a foreign land. The current UK government need to recognise the role of these martyred Indian soldiers and erect a monument in the heart of London.
