Hi! I’ve started this petition for my child & for all children who suffer with their mental health. Since my child was 3, I knew something was different about him & I have spent the last 8 years trying to get him help from any available source, to no avail. I have been sent on over a dozen parenting courses, I’ve been accused of poor parenting, having munchausen’s by proxy, projecting my mental health difficulties onto him & neglect to name a few. My child suffers daily courtesy of his mind & to this day we still aren’t getting him the help he needs. His school don’t understand him and his complex behaviours because they’re not trained to understand trauma and how to manage it, his outbursts are sanctioned instead of investigated, Social workers are not Trauma & Attachment trained even though these kids make up a huge portion of their caseload. My little boy is at breaking point, my entire family is exhausted trying to explain and defend for nearly a decade with nothing but let downs, inappropriate accusations from professionals who don’t know half of what we do. 

I know I’m not the only parent who has been let down by the systems meant to assist. 

My fight for my child, and your child is going to Parliament with your help. 

Please, the law has to change and make mental health/trauma training mandatory in all Schools and Social Care departments in order for our kids to have a chance in the world. We cannot help in things we don’t understand, and I believe my son, your son, your daughter, deserve to have the basic human right of being understood. Please help me get those in positions of power the knowledge required to make a positive difference to our children’s lives, instead of ignorance just adding to the trauma and confusion and pain they live with on a daily basis. 

Stand with me and let’s speak up for our children when they can’t speak for themselves.
