It’s disgraceful that all SME’s are not protected. And then you have the bigger businesses who can afford a few months of hard times claiming everything.

I am a self-employed musician, and the COVID-19 crisis has led to a complete suspension of my upcoming touring work. Due to the nature of my work involving large gatherings of people, i'm uncertain as to when i'll be able to generate income through these means again. I'm signing the petition because i believe the government needs to help self employed people in the creative industries to weather this crisis.

I recently started up a new business and are not covered by the Government's benefits package which only covers 95% of the self employed as I have no tax return since self employed. Makes sense to pay us 80% of the average of our last 3 years earnings when employed, prior to becoming self employed. HMRC have this information. I contacted the Treasury who ignored my email. No surprise there. Why look after 95% and not the rest?
