To put it simply why should the Union Jack be on another’s countries/pacific islander’s flag. When the Union Jack supposedly symbolises the flags of Scotland, England and Northern Ireland.

The Union Jack on the flag of other countries/pacific islander’s flags can symbolise the colonisation and suffering of many people native to that land who was taken by the United Kingdom. The Flag wasn’t chosen by the native people of that land, many pacific islander’s ancestors were slaves. The native people should be able to vote for a new flag without the Union Jack.

20 countries/island’s flags still have the Union Jack on them; Fiji, Bermuda, Hawaii, the South Sandwich islands, Pitcairn, Montserrat, British Indian Ocean Territory, Anguilla, Cayman Islands, British Virgin Island, Niue, Turks and Caicos, Tuvalu, Ascension Island, St Helena, Cook Islands, Falkland Islands, Australia and New Zealand

Indigenous Islanders are still suffering to keep their land due to the effects of colonialism. Why should the flag of the people that caused indeginous people to suffer be on their own countries/islands flag?
