Take the politics out of the NHS!

I don’t think I am alone in thinking that the NHS should stop being treated like a political football. As the problems in the NHS grow, I believe we need a long term strategy to deal with all aspects of care; medical, sugical, social and mental. Politicians tinker around the edges of the NHS, occasionally throwing money at the problem and making and implementing policies that often throw the system into turmoil. More often than not, these are then abandoned at great expense. I am calling for a debate in Parliament to discuss the idea that decisions about the NHS should be made by a cross party committee of people, not one megalomaniac politician trying to further his/her own political agenda and career. Despite the obvious problems in the NHS, I believe the vast majority of people in the UK are extremely proud of the system we have and believe in the principles on which it was founded. We need to call on politicians to do the right thing and start a proper debate about the future of the NHS before we lose it for good.
