We support MPs in implementing a 25p charge for any hot drink sold in a disposable cup

In the UK alone, 2.5bn disposable cups are thrown away each year, of which less than 0.25% are recycled.

This is extortionate amounts of plastic and waste that will be left to sit on a land fill or end up floating in the ocean.

Mary Cleagh recently called for a 25p charge on every hot drink sold in a disposable cup. She stated that the amount of cups thrown away yearly would be ‘enough to circle the planet five and a half times. Almost none are recycled and half a million a day are littered’.

We need to take responsibility over actions and the waste we produce. This could help to reduce the use of plastic- which in turn helps to protect the environment.

Support the MPs in insisting the government add a 25p charge onto every hot drink sold in a disposable cup and encourage people take responsibility and bring their own!
