Stop councils illegally destroying habitats in which there are nesting birds

Despite the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 which makes it illegal to disturb nesting birds or birds with young in the nest, every spring councils in the UK allow their contractors to destroy habitats in which there are nesting birds. As these councils are either unaware of the Act or are wilfully breaking it, councils and their contractors need to be forced to comply with the Act. The government needs to send out annual reminders of the need for compliance. And councils that break the Act must be prosecuted.
