Stop cheshire east council from destroying our squash courts to make way for a bigger gym.

Sandbach squash courts has been in use for over 30years at Sandbach High school, Sandbach squash club was formed 30+ years ago and has played there since opening, this means the club also draws players from across the county for matches. Many people enjoy this fantastic sport up and down the country, yet cheshire east council and 'everybody' wish to destroy the facilities to make way for a slightly bigger gym than the one they already have on site, the leisure centres ethos where both facilities are located shouldn't be about turning a profit, it supposed to be there for the community to use for sport, wellbeing and fitness, but sadly this is not the case anymore as they feel the town needs yet another gym. Please note that Within 5 miles there are currently 15 gyms (plus 2 more already planned in Sandbach) included in these is their new £10m lifestyle centre in Crewe, this is alongside some enormous ones like Bannatyne's and Total fitness, Sandbach will NEVER compete no matter how they do it, as counter arguments they say squash is over subscribed in the area, Sandbach has 2 courts!!.they say disabled access is paramount, however the plans are for a 2 story gym with access to the 1st floor only, they say the gym will draw approx 1200 members, this is sited at Sandbach girls school, do the school want to be part of the HUGE safeguarding issues they will encounter with so many visitors?
Amongst many points, too many to mention, they led us to believe that as far as they are concerned it's acceptable for Sandbach players both existing and potentially new to travel up to 45 minutes to Macclesfield or Congleton to have a game, this superb fitness game needs saving and the council must see the facilities are there for the community not simply to make a pound or two.
