Joe Pajak started this petition to UK Parliament

We know now that around 70% of those who transmit the Covid-19 virus do not have any symptoms at all.

Since nothing is more precious than the lives and futures of our children and young people, the government should urgently address this issue by implementing swift, reliable, regular, and effective large-scale testing of ALL staff in UK schools, and sixth form students, at least weekly. This would give parents confidence that it is safe to send their children into school and give reassurance to staff and their families.

Importantly, government should not stop there. This strategy should apply to ALL schools, colleges, and universities, and all early years, and childcare providers, residential children’s homes, residential colleges for those with disabilities, and pupil referral units.

Jeremy Hunt, Chair of the Commons Health and Social Care Committee @CommonsHealth, has apparently backed calls for the UK to adopt a model of large-scale, rapid testing. While Professor Neil Ferguson, based at Imperial College and a globally recognised epidemiologist, and former government adviser on the virus, has supported a similar approach.

This strategy would provide government and local authorities with vital data and at the same time provide much needed reassurance to local communities.

The UK will be unable rebuild its economy successfully, without providing confidence to those who have children, and who want to return to work, the reassurance that it’s as safe as possible in the environments where their children learn.
