My grandson has been living with me and my son for 2 years we had him at 2 years old,  mother was drunk and phoned the police to say she was going to  commit suicide,  he was loving school and were told he was a polite little boy and well taken care of,  my son went to pick him up from school and was faced with teachers, and police, and social workers, and a guardian, they said mother had said he was being "hit all over" by his dad, and were taking him to mothers. We got no police to the door to say we had abused him  IT'S CHILD ABUSE  why did no one call?? no information  as to explain why mother had said that!!  they checked him out and my grandson had no bruises or marks, we should have got him back.  He was in foster care not at mothers !! that was the beginning of  their lies. he  stayed there for 6 months and was sent back to mothers. She got a new partner and he was abusing both boys but we were unaware of the first incident until later. In the mean time my grandson of four and half years old, came in from school and was told to go straight into his bedroom and was not allowed to play with any of his toys, watch television or any normal activities a child of his age would do in their spare time; instead he was told to stay quiet, not given any food or drink and not allowed to go downstairs. This went on for while and we reported it often, yet still nothing was done. This man was supposedly checked out by the social worker and she approved he was okay to live there but when this social worker was removed (this was due to the fact she caught swearing at my grandson on a video recording) we got another social worker who when investigated the mothers new partner discovered he had a police record of previous CHILD abuse; as well as dealing in drugs and firearms. The teacher at his school had also been complaining repeatedly to authorities, all of which were ignored and not followed up on. At school he was wanting to commit suicide; one attempt when during primary school he tried to take his own life. He confiding in other pupils and made comments such as he 'wanted to jump into a pit with stakes in' 'put a knife down his throat' and 'hang from the blinds' while he was being abused there, his mother would take him into her stepdads to babysit while she went out socialising even though she was informed and told repeatedly she was not allowed to leave CHILDREN there; this was due to the fact he sexually abused the mother herself when she was only 13. At only four years old my grandson told me that his granddad had been walking around with no pants on playing with his willy and more. Once again this is the mothers FIFTH neglect case, one of which he fell out of a tree, the babysitter at the time of the incident could not get in contact with the mother as she was out; therefore he rang the ambulance who later got the police involved. Because of this my grandson was took back into foster care.

During the time my grandson was in foster care he reported several incidents with a particular 'carer' that he was mistreat and hit often. Not only my grandson but the other little boy under her care was being hit frequently too. This went on for quiet a while; despite the fact we told the teacher our concerns she was unable to take any further action as the incident had to be reported from my grandson himself. Whilst most of the children in my grandsons class looked forward to going home to their loving families my grandson would be reluctant to go back to the foster carer; he would shout 'he doesn't want to go back to that house' repeatedly. From finishing school at 3.15pm he roamed the school yard on his own until 8.45pm when the teacher managed to convince to come inside to have something to eat and drink. Despite my grandson continuously saying he was unhappy at the foster carers the head teacher took him back there. Why was nothing investigated then when my grandson made it clear he hated going there? Clearly something wasn't right? WHY DID THEY NOT REMOVE HIM THEN? He stayed there unwillingly until further incidents occurred where the teacher noticed his legs were black and blue whilst he got changed for PE. She reported what he had seen to the police and my grandson was finally removed immediately that night. He went to another foster carer who he liked but there was an incident happened. He was then taken to Manchester to live in a home for traumatised children; he was there for one month when he was returned to Gateshead to live in ANOTHER home; which he remains to this day and we can only see him for one hour every two month.

I want a public enquiry on why this was able to happen. I want justice for my grandson. I want no other vulnerable child to suffer what my grandson has.
