The current benefits system originally created to help the less fortunate in the UK is being exploited. It's being abused in a way that people on this system are able to live a life of luxury on the cash sums they receive. This is not the purpose of the benefits scheme. In some instances, it has become more beneficial NOT to work. Because there is no incentive, people who are more than capable of working, DON'T.

1. The aim of this petition is to raise awareness of how the current benefits system as a whole does not encourage the majority of its CAPABLE benefactors to find a job.

2. Get the government to put in place, a fair system for all, that does not make work less attractive than being on benefits, if one is capable.

A system, whereby people on income-based jobseeker allowance or income-related employment and support allowance do not receive cash sums but instead receive weekly vouchers is one solution to this problem. The vouchers can cover food, utilities, rent, clothing, and other basic necessities. This leaves people who are receiving support but are able to work, with enough to survive but not enough to enjoy additional, unessential luxuries, thus giving them an incentive to work.

This scheme is less likely to be abused and therefore will save taxpayers money, while still ensuring that those who are needing support, are looked after.
