Once again a child has been let down by the system. People have been threatened by arrest. Social workers and teachers are afraid to report suspicions as they fear being wrong. Let’s remove this fear. If there is suspicion of abuse, social workers should have the right to remove the child or elderly person from the setting until a full and thorough investigation has been completed. If there is no evidence, then great. No one should fear prosecution for being concerned. No one should fear acting in good faith because of fear of wokism, racism, homophobia, because the suspected perpetrators are disabled, or being threatened with arrest etc. please remove the threat of stupid actions against concerned individuals and social workers. Let good intentions act as a byword. It’s time to stop letting helpless victims suffer. Once a thorough investigation has been carried out decisions can be made to return the person to their home. However, when inaction by heads of departments are identified. When they didn’t act on reports of neglect and abuse, they should Never, be allowed to retire with large payouts. They Failed. They are Culpable. Please, let’s bring back common sense at last.
