Sir David Amess, MP for Southend West, has been quoted by one of his own Conservative Councillors on local election material as saying “Unless we have a strong Conservative Council, my ability to fight for Southend is hampered as Government Ministers are reluctant to go that extra mile for an opposition controlled Local Council.”

This has rightfully been called out by the media and others as blackmail. 

Could this be anything to do with the Government’s Levelling-up Fund in which we saw Robert Jenrick and Rishi Sunak’s constituencies recommended for funds while struggling towns didn’t even get a mention?

This man must not be allowed to represent my town in parliament and an investigation should be carried out to find out how much truth there is in his statement.
