It's estimated that 400,000 people in the UK are gambling addicts, and a further 2 million are at risk.

Gambling ruins lives, not just for the gamblers but also the people around them. People lose everything they have due to this affliction, and companies that offer gambling services know this and exploit the poor and vulnerable.

We're coming a long way and the UKGC is taking more and more action to defend people. GAMSTOP is live on almost all UK online casinos but there's one area which is overlooked.

Scratchcards.

We've long since left the days of £1 scratch cards and they range up to £10 per go.

Throughout stores in the UK these are prominently displayed for all to see, bright colours and promotions, often with visual displays repeating videos to entice people to buy them.

We hide cigarettes from view yet we display these cards for all to see. Camelot is relying on problem gamblers to buy these, and seeing them when buying something else from whatever store you're in is just a trigger for those affected, even a gateway for those not.

I believe these cards should be removed from view. I can't see this having any negative effect, only a positive one. People trying to give up the habit don't need it shoved down their throat every time they leave the house.

Please, let's make a difference and hide these from view to help those afflicted and their families from gambling addiction.

Thank you.
