The current Corvid 19 situation is something that the world and especially the UK has never faced before, at least in the modern times. It is the first pandemic of its kind that the NHS is facing and fighting. Despite the lockdown, many of the “key workers“ are expected to work in order to stop this pandemic. Everyone is aware of the risks these key workers are taking. It’s commendable that they are risking their lives for the lives of many in the UK and worldwide. However, many of these key workers have children and vulnerable elderly at home. Not only are they taking a risk on their health, they are also risking exposure for their loved ones who live in the same house including their children. At this time of uncertainty, these key workers are leaving their children in schools and nurseries in order to be able to support, protect and treat the public. It is only fair that for those who are having to leave their children in a paid care to do this great service for the community, get this fee waived by the government. One can’t put a price on asking a key worker to risk the lives of their children, therefore, the least the government can do is provide free childcare in return.

This petition is for all the key workers who are having to pay for childcare and risk their lives on the front lines during this war with coronavirus. Let’s all sign this petition as a thank you to our key workers to relieve at least some of their concerns during these difficult times.
