Real Penalties For Serious Election Fraud
0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!
The Electoral Commission was clear that there were serious breaches of election law in the 2015 General Election (and the Parliamentary by-elections that took place before it).
The Electoral Commission would have levied larger fines after probing election expenses. They reported "numerous failures by a large...experienced party" which likely gave an advantage, yet no charges will be pressed against the candidates or agents that signed declarations that didn't include expenses that should have been included, because it is too hard to prove WHO intended to make a false declaration.
To protect democracy, we need the new Parliament to introduce penalties that WON'T be viewed by parties as "a cost of doing business"-a risk the Electoral Commission warns of.
