Proportional Representation

Proportional Representation

The Issue

The British political voting system is broken, with a Labour performance in the recent election the worst in decades. The Liberal Democrat’s have diminished to nothing more than a town council political party, while the Tories have won what was undoubtably a simple Brexit election. The first past the post election system we currently have does not represent the British public sufficiently, whereas if we switched to a proportional representation system our elections would reflect our diverse society. As a young adult myself within the 18-24 electorate category it’s plain to see that we voted Labour, yet that chosen party is horrifically represented within the House of Commons for the next 5 years. If we had used a proportional representation system in this recent election then the Conservative party would of not had a majority, the Lib Dem’s would have 70 seats with Labour having 216.
