Schools are set to reopen fully in 4 weeks time. As we saw in the briefing yesterday, the rate of infections is going up again and they have had to put a stop to the plans to reopen more services today. There is also talk of closing down pubs and restaurants next month to allow for schools to open. While there is still such a threat from coronavirus I feel that parents should not be fined for not wanting to send their children to school. While children are 'low risk' from getting severely ill from this virus, their ability to spread it is no less than adults, so even in a 'bubble' of 30 children, one child with the virus has the potential to spread it to 30 families and their contacts.

Home learning has been an issue and some children have used the lockdown to have a break from schoolwork. If fines are to be put in place,  instead of it being for not attending school, maybe they could be put in place for failure to do any schoolwork without any reasonable mitigating circumstances.

While some schools have worked very hard to put all the guidelines in place, children,  especially young children, are naturally sociable and like to be near each other. This is a great cause for concern and parents should not be penalised for not wanting to place their children in this environment
