Oxbridge should divest all of its holdings in fossil fuel related companies.

The recent Paradise Paper leaks have shown that Oxford and Cambridge Universities have vast sums invested in fossil fuel related companies. These universities are our leading research centres in the UK and should be driving forward progress on the replacement of fossil fuels with renewable energy sources in light of the problem of Global Warming. Oxford and Cambridge both clearly face conflicts of interest by having the holdings - how can they commit to replacing fossil fuels and make real progress on this issue when much of their wealth is based on the continued success of fossil fuels? The universities should divest of these holdings in order to remove the conflict of interest and focus on the research tasks that are needed to replace fossil fuels and provide future generations with the clean supply of energy that is required to prevent future environmental catastrophes.
