I live in Harlesden. In my previous life in Houston, TX, I worked in the oil & gas industry. Drilling for oil is -always- about making money for corporate entI ties or shareholders. The guys behind this see £££ in their eyes and do not care about Harlesden or its residents. Fracking is never completely safe and they could care less. If they find viable oil, they will do whatever it takes to get to it- if you let them explore, I think it will then be too late to stop actual production. This would set a horrible precedent to drill for oil in the middle of a heavily populated residential community. Horrible for environment (by extracting oil & gas they will lower Co2, what!?), horrible for people's quality of life. Harlesden, don't even entertain this idea- no matter what financial gains they promise to the area, no matter what they are willing to promise they will do in return. Nothing makes this worth it for our community. This is blatantly disgusting they are even proposing such a thing, and in & of itself shows how little they respect the residents of Harlesden.
I'm against all fracking because it is contrary to the measures we need to take to alleviate climate change, and because it is destructive to biodiversity and the environment, and because I believe there are risks of water contamination and earthquakes.
